Center vent trim

My center vent area is getting a bit sticky and looks bad. Does anyone know if there are any "stick-on" replacement trim pieces?

Carbon fiber, brushed metal, or wood would be nice.

I would just clean what's there. The circular center plastic piece (between the two vents) was really sticky on mine when I bought the car. If I remember correctly, it pops right out, and I was able to clean it with dish soap / Goo Gone to get it looking brand new.

I wasn't sure if the stickiness was the bezel breaking down or just stuff on it.

The specs are debris caught in the sticky

Yep, that center plastic piece was exaclty what was all sticky on mine. Popped it out, cleaned it, and it looks brand new.

Just do a quick search to see how to pop it out (sorry, I forget if there is a trick to it since this was over 4 years ago). Actually, you might even be able to clean it in place. Much easier if it's out, though.

I can't seem to find any mention of "center vent" removal ,or cleaning, or any other criteria.

Am I doing something wrong?

Same thing with my center vent and I used acetone (nail polish remover) - it literally wipes off clean. Pretty amazing.

Dark panel or chrome?

So, do I pry between the chrome trim and dash, or between the dark psnel and chrome ring?

Another way of saying it is does the chrome ring come out or does it stay on the dash?

trim comes off with the panel. Use plastic trim removal tool. Clean with acetone and microfiber towel. Looks great.

During reinstall, coat the edge of the dash with armor all to make it slick. I did not and ended up breaking the chrome trim due to friction with the dash recess. If I was doing it again. I would consider cleaning it in situ to avoid breaking those hard to find pieces.

Same process for cleaning the radio volume knob of the sticky crap. If you dont like the slick result on the knob, lightly rough it up with med sandpaper to taste.

Slightly off topic but if anyone has the sticky/deteriorated a/c buttons these can be replaced cheaply https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112377292423
