I am in the process of replacing the breather hoses on my 2004 clk 320 and I accidentally broke the plastic stem off of the T-connector that feeds the breather lines into the MAF sensor elbow. As far as I can tell, the stem's only purpose is to be inserted into the feed hole for direct air passage into the air intake, and the rubber body of the connector acts as an air tight seal. My question is whether I should get this part replaced or is it a minor thing and the engine will be fine to put back together with the stem broken off? The piece is the original I believe, so its almost 20 years old at this point and not sure if it should be replaced anyway.
