Knock in the rear right side suspension like something lose in the trunk
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my clk 500 w209 2003. The right side of the rear suspension knocks once in a while especially when braking or moving off I can hear a knock in the back like something is lose in the trunk (I have cleared everything out), as well as when going over bumps or potholes. I am pretty sure it’s in the rear since I can hear it when the rear of the car goes over bumps. So not the sound from the front travelling through the body to the back.
I have just replaced both of the sway bar bushes, which have reduced the number of knocks but there are still small ones. I have checked the rear sway bar links but they look new and cleaner than the rest so I am guessing the previous owner has done them. I have also checked the shocks and the bushings where they are mounted but those are also new from 202. Wheel nuts are tight.
Is there anything else in the suspension which can cause knocking?
Thanks!

Not sure if it effects your year or model....I had my subframe rust away...it is a big warranty thing for more than one generation and level. I was stunned when I found out. Fast forward a few years, it turns out to be a common thing....

My car had zero rust as well. There is an odd pocket that would hold rain water...and, rust. Car had zero rust and the rear end system rusted out....go figure....

Granted, this is for US cars and now that I look more, not your year....but, worth checking out.
