Hi all my sister has a 2008 CLK280 Elegance and has had it since July 2022. I personally know nothing about mercedes as I own a bmw hence I am posting this haha. she was driving it the other day running errands with the check engine light on, sometimes it's off, sometimes it's on, so she don't really worry about it as the mechanic frequently checks it over and it used to drive fine. anyway, when she was out and got back in the car, she said it started but then idled high (like 1200rpm) and it said ESP inoperative but she drove it anyway. when she pulled out onto a main road after a red light, it started going but then lost all throttle response, and was just rolling (even when she was putting her food down on the accelerator). she limped it to the side of the road and waited for a tow truck for 3 hours. she didn't try to turn it on during those 3 hours she didn't want to touch anything. she wasn't sure if the tow truck driver drove it up or winched it up because she was in the tow truck. anyway she got it towed to BMTS at Brendale QLD (Australia) and they took it for a drive, cleared all the codes, and said it was driving fine, but it MIGHT be the gear selector module that is faulty. i dont know if this would be the case because i dont think the gearbox was the issue, i think it was the throttle input because it was not revving or responding when she was rolling. she was able to drive it home. when I got in it to pull it into the driveway to clean it it was fine, but when I got back in yo reverse it back out of the drive way, ESP inoperative came back up in the cluster and it was idling high again. I parked it on the road, and just before I went to turn it off, it revved itself up to 2500 rpm without me touching anything and thej i quickly shut it off. I got my code scanner, these are the codes that came up: P0607, P2006, P2237, P061B, and the confirmed codes are P0607, P0025, P2006, and P0015. now I am thinking P0607 (the engine control module i belive) might be the issue?? it really was one of the only codes that I could match to it as from what I've researched it controls the throttle input and if it was faulty it would also make sense for the ESP to stop working. It has always had codes P0015, P0025 and P2006 but drove fine so I think they are unrelated. My question is does anyone have any history with anything like this/the mercedes experts, what do you think it may be? i also read into the possibility of it being the throttle position sensor but would that make sense for the ESP malfunction as well?? no clue. if we can't get it sorted for a reasonable price it will be for sale on the market haha.
