Side Mirror Lens replacement

Damn it I'm really pissed at myself. Backed out of the parkeing lot and the pillar just managed to clip the edge of the clear plastic lens and broke it.
Has anyone replaced one of these before? DO I have to change the entire mirror casing or do they sell just the light piece? Please help. Thanks.

I have had the same thing they do sell the led bit by itself.

It was about 15pound and it was easy to fit i would recormend you buy a new clip just incase it has broken( imean the holding clip for the inside of the housing)

The mirror can be release and you can fit a new light housing

Hi Neil,
Thanks for your reply! So you're saying I don't have to replace the entire mirror housing then. They sell just the light insert part. By any chance do you have the part number? I may just have to get some instructions from you once I get the part. Thanks!

Stan.

Been there and done that !

This is the procedure. You motor the mirror to its downmost position and there is a wire spring clip which you pop off. You then raise the glass slightly to pop it off its top hooks.

Then the coloured mirror body is forced to fold towards the door glass against the pressure of the spring. It is quite stiff. You will observe a small sliver clip between the coloured outer body and the black inner piece. A screwdriver is used to prise the clip out and the cover slides off. Then you can simply unscrew the indicator lens and replace !

I reckon the procedure is similar for most cars but these damn mirrors are designed to snap together and they dont like coming apart. Still the lens was only €20.00 a coiuple of years ago which is reasonable !

Best of luck !

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the help. The parts store was selling this part for 44 Singapore dollars but I have to wait 2 weeks to get it, while the dealer wanted 71 but right away. They have one sitting on the shelf. Its raining a lot in Singapore this time of year, I figured I'd get it fixed at the dealers to avoid any rain getting in. Plus the difference is not very much in terms of dollars. getting it done on Wed, and the following day, I'm getting my AMG kit in! Can't wait...
