Myriad error codes - most having to do with CAN-bus errors
I have a bidirectional OBD-II reader and I have found MANY error codes of which most of them have to do with CAN-Bus problems. I'm trying to isolate if I actually have 20-30 simultaneous errors or if one is causing everything "downstream" to display as failed.
The car runs and drives fine and the service light is off, but occasionally od things will happen, like occasionally when I turn the car off, the alarm will sound. Other times everything on the dash will stop working. No tach, speedo, fuel, temp, wipers stop, windows stop, blower stops. All the latter things used to happen frequently. But haven't happened since I replaced the battery. Not sure if the total power-down fixed it or the old battery was loading things down.
A sampling of errors are:
C1029 Fault in CAN comm with control unit N73 EIS [EZS] Control unit
P203E-04 no CAN message from instrument cluster or faulty message (see freeze frame P0600)
and several others, all mentioning CAN bus problems being missing or faulty.
There are also a few valid ones like blend door and heated seat faults.
I believe everything is possibly tied to an alternator problem where the first replacement had a bad regulator and provided 15.1+ volts. OR a partially failed after market replacement key programming.
Any pointers as to where to continue tracing the problem?
