I have inherited a 2004 CLK 320, built 2/2004, all keys are lost.
What is the best procedure for removing the EIS (to then be sent in to get a new FOB)
There are various videos on youtube, but none that seem to match.
Some require heavy dismantling. Some come out from the bottom. This seems to have an instrument cluster that can be removed easily....can it be pulled out that way?
I pulled mine when I bought the car last year because it only came with one key. Sent the unit, my key, and two new Chinese keys to someone on eBay to get programmed for around $100. I could not get mine out through the space where the instrument cluster sits, but I did have to remove the cluster to remove screw holding the dash together. It's a lot of steps, including the cluster, headlight switch, parking brake handle, stuff in the center console (radio, A/C heat assembly), and I can't remember what else, but it will be a few hours. I think this is the video I used:
