The latest Car and Driver (page 113) has a review of the CLK 500. The review is not on their web site yet. They indicate that it weighs 300 pound more than the outgoing W208!!

Unfortunately true. According to MB's world site the new CLK weighs 1660 kg. That's 3665 lb. The 2002 CLK brochure lists the W208 weight as 3365 lb. Looks like the power to weight ratio is just over 12 lb/hp for both cars, so acceleration won't be much improved.
