2001 CLK55 Designo Edition
2001 Designo Feeler

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to ask questions, but I was hoping some of you guys might be able to give me an idea as to the value of my car.

I have a 2001 CLK55 Designo Mocha, coupe with just over 27K miles, navigation, phone, everything, perfect condition, NO mechanical problems, and still under Starmark for another 9 months.

I've seen blue book prices, and I've seen ebay prices. What do you guys think is a reasonable asking price for this car?

Thanks for the advice,
Robbie

My experience is that the Designio Option adds virtually no value to resale, unless you find a very specific buyer that greatly desires that package. Your best guide is to determine resale in your area for a CLK55 with similar mileage.

Others here may have some additional information to add.

Good luck

I just picked up my 01 Designo Mocha in May for around $33k with 25,000 miles on the odo. It has 18" Brabus monoblock V's with Dunlop SP9000 (235 front/265 rear). It also has a bunch of other aftermarket add-ons including stealth k40, Alpine dvd player, Sony sub and a few other things. The headrests have big holes in the back though b/c I haven't bothered replacing the monitors that used to be there. My only complaint is that the driver's seat squeaks a little and one of the motors in the passenger seat keeps blowing the fuse. The dealer would've replaced both seat frames under warranty but because the car has so much wiring underneath the seats they were gonna charge me $400 in labor just to replace the frames and they also couldn't guarantee that the wiring would work again. So I figured I leave it b/c the squeaking wasn't that bad and I could just replace the fuse every so often (not too often since usually I'm the only one in the car). Hope that helps.

Is your Designo a 55? If so, then I guess that's what the market is at right now. I guess I'll try my luck on ebay first.

Does anybody think I could get a better deal on a trade-in? Because it seems like dealerships use the blue book for pricing, which is a bit higher than the ebay rate.

There's also the tax advantage with trade in, so if they give you a price near blue book value of what you would get if you sold it privately with that tax advantage just do it. It will save you the headache and the listing fees of selling it yourself.

Yup sorry, forgot to mention it was a 55. I'm in Chicago though so the used car market around here is very competitive and drives prices on used cars considerably lower than other parts of the country. Same thing goes for southern Cali and Florida. You could always take your car to Carmax and they'll give you a free written offer that's good for 7 days/300 miles. They too go by the KBB. Also check what the going rate for your car is in your area.
