I've thought about doing that as well. Now did you just buy some kind of heat shielding and cut it to fit, or did you buy something premade. I've always thought that wrapping the intake and adding a proper set of jet-coated headers (Or even jet coated AND thermal wrapped) would go a long way towards reducing intake temperature...

Best regards,
Matt

Those look really nice. As asked above, did you sew the pieces together? Or was it premade? I don't need these anymore cause of my s/c but when I still had a stock airbox I wrapped mine with the adhesive wrap. Needless to say, your way looks a million times better, and won't start to come unstuck like my tubes did. :0) Nice looking mod, now post some engine pics.

So wrapping the intake hoses prevents the air from getting too hot? It insulates the air from the heat of the engine, correct? That kind of makes sense. I think carbon fiber would make a great heat insulator since it does not burn. Carbon fiber airboxes are nice. Those are front intake tubes, near the grille correct?

Hi,

The fabric is heat resistent and does not transfer heat. I had a company make them up cost around $145.00 Australian for the pair.

They slip on and off for servicing if required. Those air intakes without the these covers I could not touch they got so hot after city driving. Country driving is ok because there is so much air passing over the motor but in the city there is to much heat under the bonnet.

As you said the problem with adhesive tap is the heat makes it peel off and it still transfers heat. When I sell the car I can just slide these off with no damage to the plastic intakes if required.

The back part of the air takes will be done next week.
