Exclamation AMG Rear brake package

Hey hey there W209 AMG owners -
any of you with AMG rear brakes upgrade 'em to the Brembos or whatever? I wanna buy your AMG rears, then! C'mon. I'm a good guy.

I would prefer local Los Angeles area pickup, but I'll pay shipping if I have to, I suppose.

The rear rotors are 13" and the part # is 171 423 02 12 , slk55, clk55, and clk63 uses the same rotor.

You got your Numbers.

try 08/12/2005 11:05 PM . You will figure it out. Carlo's . My intent was to encourage proper & good Maintance. sosh , the guy you agreed with , (BTW my brakes work just fine ). Must have gotten out of bed , wrong . So I wrote him a nice e-mail. He wasn't honorable enough to reply , He knew he did not respond well , to the thread, He just wanted to prove he was king of that thread. So be it. I've watch his responses to questions on the Tech site for several years now. He doesn't offer much help ,for anybody , just tells them too junk their cars. These people just wanted some ideals on what to look for . Not a sarcastic answer. I find MBENZMAN,(Rich) the most helpful and would not be afraid to send somebody to him. NOT So with Sosh

Let me correct one thing. 63 uses a different rotor. There are lots of threads about this topic. Do a search and you will find the info.

don't have time to sort through 7,600+ of my posts to find someone who I don't even remember. He must not be of much importance to the board, if I can't even remember his name. I don't hook my cart on anyone I don't know personally, so whatever I said in agreement with him was probably in a sarcastic bliss of ignorance. Seems like you've held a grudge since August 2005. I can't even remember August 2005.... time to move on.....

mertd93,
thanks for the info on the 13" rotor size.

Dealer gave me Part # 210 423 08 12
which is totally different from what is posted above.

Nope, no vacation for me. Just out to sea quite often, just like now.
Won't be back until next week, so no cell phone, no e-mail.
MBWorld is my link to the universe !

Still haven't heard anything back from home, so I'm not too sure on the wheels.
For all I know there could be a whole new Mercedes-Benz in my driveway when I get home.

The part # that you have is the smaller rotor, it fits the stock 1 piston caliper.

Thanks.
The dealership is giving me all the stock parts, and I'm looking for the rear
cross-drilled rotor and 2-piston AMG silver-painted caliper.

Was that an upgrade feature to certain CLK55's ?

I was told that the cross-drilled rotor & 2-piston AMG rear brakes off the CLK55 fit a 17" rear AMG wheel application.

That's exactly, what I am looking for. Was this in some other thread, that I somehow missed ? I want to know what that "detailed" thread had, because I'm obviously not searching right, if that's the case.

Question Porterfield brake pads for CLK55 2-piston AMG rear caliper ?

OK,
so another silly but related question.
I want to keep all this info on this thread, so years from now when someone else is searching for this information, it's all in one place.

PORTERFIELD brake pads:
What is the correct Part # ?

I was sent AP 603, but I suspect that's for the stock 1-piston rear caliper.
I did notice on the PORTERFIELD online catalog, the 2003+ SL55 / S55 / E55
use AP 984. Is that the same 2-piston AMG caliper shown above for the CLK55 ???

So why is there two versions of rear brakes on the W209 CLK55 ?
I mean one is plain ugly, you see on regular non-AMG cars,
and then there's this 2-piston AMG labeled caliper.
Shouldn't an AMG car come with AMG brakes ???

Wow, they are expensive. I called my MB dealer and quoted me $650 for each caliper and $189 for each rotor plus pads. Coming close to 2k. Is that the standard or 'normal' price?
