Another silly question - engineer plate
Anyway, I was wondering if someone could point me to where I should find that on my 2002 CLK55 AMG Cab. Just to satisfy my curiousity you see

The C36 came out in (model year) 1995 for the U.S. Market. I think the engine builder's plate was, quite simply, a marketing idea that was born with the first blown V8s. Since the E55 (MY 1999-2002), CL55 (MY 2001-2002), S55 (MY 2001-2002), ML55 (2000-2002) and CLK55 (MY 2001-2002) were already in production, it was likely not cost effective to make changes for the final 2002 model year....by just adding the engine builder's signature.
But they had to "start" somewhere.....enter the W211 E55 for 2003. Incidentally, the 2002 SLK32 and C32 did not have the plaques, but the '03s did!
At present, the engine builder's signature plate is an expected part of each AMG car. If they have another "marketing idea"....say etching the face of the engine builder on each motor, those owners that didn't get that "benefit" may feel cheated.
