How much would you pay for this CLK55?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to decide between the W203 C32 (2002) and the W208 CLK55 (2001). Emotionally, I like the CLK55 and I'm most probably going to go for it.

The car is this:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=en&cardist=49

My questions are:

1) How much do you think it's worth, and why?
2) I'm at 70% toward the CLK55, anything else to solidify the CLK as the choice?

p.s the car it will replace is a MINT MINT W124 E420 and I love the 4.2L M119 V8 in that car, which is one of the top reasons why I like the CLK55.

Thanks All,

Nice low miles, at first glance looks very clean, no mods, it reads warranty...but what does "standard" meaning when describing the warranty? Other than that, if white is your thing...hands down no brainer. $33K, maybe a bit more if the warranty is legit.

looks nice. good car and having grown up in NH i can vouch that dreher holloway has probably the best customer service of any MB dealer ive been to, nationwide. if ya go there ask for gregory nakagowa, hes the best (not sure hes still there though, but last i checked he was) good luck

It's Starmarked for 1yr/100k mi. and I was told I could purchase an extra year or two for some amount of money.

and yes, I agree about service. They were pretty good.

FYI, the C32 is this one:

Thumbs up

If you like the polar bear look, this is a good one.

Look to see if the interior is a true designo (the word 'designo' should be embossed on the seat leather). The contrasting stichwork on the seats looks good - but you will have to baby the car to keep that white leather in shape. My God, is that white leather trim on the floor mats? Try keeping that clean!

The pics are a bit grainy for me. If there is also stitched leather on the top of the dash and the central console then you have the extended leather interior, which is rare, particularly on the AMG coupes. That would justify a high price.

This car looks like a cream puff -- literally and figuratively. If you like the colors I would not bargain too hard, since you will not likely find another one so nice.

Kelly Blue book says in excellent condition $32,855.

Of course the seller should expect to get some lower offers. Offer $31K.....maybe $32K??

From my dealing with this dealership and other member comments it sounds like they are one of the better MB dealers. I would still get a ppi (pre purchase inspection) on the car and also have the dealer pull the history from the VIN. This way you can KNOW it's a solid car with a good history. Even if it's MB certified that doesn't mean a thing. I purchased a clk from a MB dealer that was Starmarked and come to find out it had been wrecked and had 4 sheets of warrenty work prior to me buying it. Had I done a ppi and pulled the work history I could have avoided the problems. Plus this way you will feel GREAT knowing you will be driving one great machine! Just my 2 cents

MB cert. just means it cost the dealer less to do any repairs neccisary to bring the car up to sale redy spec. The dealer's have more room to deal on Cert. cars because they don't have to come out of pocket for the repairs. I'd offer $29K and wouldn't go over $32k.... Keep in mind MBUSA paid for all the repairs the dealer is into the car only for the trade in amount.

Thats a gorgeous color combo...I have a brilliant silver 55 with the same interior + the nav system.

to be honest if i saw my car and that one..id take the white one...white is very very classy, and unique looking. and it doesn tlooke like its 5 years olf..not that mine looks 5..but white makes it look 'younger'.

I have bought my car from Holloway Manchester and they have been great. However 35k seems quite high, I would start around 30K and wont go over 32K if I were you.

Looks like a very nice car. I loved the looks of w208

I have driven both and bought the CLK, it felt more ballsy and I think the looks a classic. I love the CLK -The milage is low so $33-34M not too bad. Try beating them down, high end cars are not selling too well in used market.

Thanks for all the help...

The CLK55 it was. Tough decision but the C32 had more miles and was not in such good a shape as the CLK55.

Here it is with the car it replaced (1995 E420, 275hp V8)

Farewell W124... it will be missed!

Money for the CLK55, insurance, and lack of space

If I had the means to keep it, I probably would've bought a C6 Corvette instead..

Thanks guys!

The W124 is now with its new owner in New Jersey

It looked great as it passed by on the Turnpike! I led the new owner and the 420 to I-90.
