KLEEMANN - W208 CLK55 AMG Compressor Kit upgrade 607HP WOW!
I recently upgraded from my beloved 2000 CLK430, to a 2002 CLK55. Love the extra oomph and what the AMG package brings to the table. I also came across the MBWORLD.ORG site and these forums. I think this site and all the members heare are great! What a great way to share ideas and get things done!
Anyway, I'm itching to get my CLK55 all the visual and performance upgrades and toys that I can get, short of going overboard and making it ghetto.
I have done a little research on the KLEEMANN - W208 CLK55 AMG Compressor Kit upgrade, and wanted everyone's thoughts on the subject. Anyone that had this done to their CLK55, please share your thoughts and feelings. From the information I got, this upgrade will make our CLK55 even better then the soon to be released CLK63. I'm in the process of getting some quotes from various authorized Kleemann dealers throughout the US, but my inital quote responses are very steep. Below are the various stages available and the pricing on them.
If anyone knows of a source that does this for less, please share!
Perhaps we can do one of these combined group things to save some money if anyone else is interested. Thanks guys! and gals if any.

Although its not too close to Brooklyn, try out AI Design in Tuckahoe. Every time I'm there they seem to be working on a new Kleeman car. I've seen a W209 and W208 Kleeman CLK. The guy turned one of them on for me and revved it. Its so nasty and the s/c looks so nice. They have a lot of knowledge and work on a lot of celebrities cars, but their prices aren't the most competitive.

But if you're going for it and live 'round here, you have to go to RPM Racing North to get it done; you can have a pair or muffler bypass butterflies installed @ the same time

Kleemann discount?
I'm sure we can get a discount if we had several individuals interested in doing this.
I believe that evesports.com had one on these forums once. Somewhere in the 8k range.

Wow, RPM Racing claims to have done a 650+HP CLS...I looked at some of the pictures and it looks like its Kleeman. Must be an amazing car, I wonder what they did exactly to make it that powerful.

The CLS has real nice exhaust plumbing...
And my money's on them having added the Muffler By-pass Butterflies too..
All good. ...but again, that's not really 'real' anyway in my mind. Is that an @ the wheel value? If not, I'm not believing it. There's dozens of HP difference between applying a 15%, 20% or 25% 'correction factor' to the real @ the wheel measured values when estimating an @ the crank value. Not say'n it's not a kick *** super powerful car (and the owner is a member here ; I met him @ the open house), but just say'n make sure any measurement is based on a 4th gear pull, and find out what the @ the wheel measurement is; that's the 'real pull' your tires are exerting on the ground that you care about.

The real question is how much are you willing to fork out to get what you want?
If you're looking for the best bang for your buck then Kleemann is the way to go. Have you test driven a 55 kleemann car? If not do it and you won't be disappointed.

As the email quotes are coming in, i'm starting to notice that the pricing is all even across the board at $11K. The only difference is the installation charge that so far ranges from 2K to $2600.
Is this upgrade worth the 13K total investment? You guys seem to know, and have driven these cars before. What type of 0 to 60 improvement would i be looking at? And most importantly, does this in any way shape or form put any extra stress on the engine and diminish life of the vehicle?
check out this link that i found about a group buy on the V6 version of this procedure.

That was 2002 tho...
Something like two years ago the Kleemann V8 S/C went down $2K but the V6 went up either $1.5K or $2K (I forget). They'd sell many many times more V8s then V6s. That was nice of Kleemann IMO.
P.S. Wagz, ItalianSallion, blackbenzz, am I going to see you @ the end of August @ the East Coast AMGfest 2006 at MBUSA Headquarters?

Hate to say it but again forget group buy. If you've got $13k or more to spend it's worth every penny.

Stage 8+ ??

Not sure what kind of 0 to 60 but trust me it's pretty fast. It does put a stress on the engine but don't think you have to worry about that since these 55's are almost bullet proof. I'm running Stage 8+ right now and the only issue i have is traction. Even with LSD it still breaks loose easily.

I just got a response from a guy in Long Island (RPM RACING NORTH) that seemed genuine. Tell me if this makes sense, here's his quote:
"I think you'll find that the kompressor pricing will not vary between dealers as Kleemann specifically prohibits us from discounting their products. The Kompressor kit itself is $11,000 and is completely self-sufficient. It includes the supercharger, air to water intercooler, fuel injectors, fuel rail, plumbing and hardware, etc. One upgrade that is not included but I would recomend is the ECU upgrade, it is $1000, it not only adds about 20HP but it also will help everything to run a bit more efficiently and smoother. So for the ECU upgrade and Kompressor kit it's $12,000 and then installation is about 22-24 hours for your vehicle which at $116/hr. adds up to app. $2,600. In total you can expect to spend just under $15,000 - that will net you 550HP and 525Lbs.Ft of torque. For the complete job I would have you drop off on a Saturday and pick up the following Saturday. If you can give me a call I could go into further details and we could discuss pricing further - if you are located on or near Long Island we can help you arrange transportation as well. I look forward to hearing from you, best regards."
oh yeah, Dude...........what do you mean you're running Stage 8+?????
you mean stage 8 of the Kleemann upgrades??? how many are there, and exactly what type of space ship are you building?

2) Gussy-up yer car...
3) And Show-up!
Dat's it. It's free. You get fed. And you get a DVD if you provide them with your contact info. Oh ya, and the 2nd day they hooked us up with a Porsche group's AutoX event so 40 of us can beat on our cars too.

If you want to know more about the Kleemann S/C you can PM you phone number and I can give you the scoop. I have had my car transformed and it should have been delivered to me last week but I had to go away out of town. Now I am back and I will drive my CLK55K on Monday or Tuesday.
I bought my charger used from a guy on these forums that had a SL500. The cost savings was significant and the end result the same as if I had bought it new, minus the extra cash of course. If anyone is ever interested in stopping by Boston and taking a ride, as a fellow enthusiast, I say welcome!
One thing I can tell you is that what is said about the HP being hyped up a bit is absolutely correct. Nevertheless, the Kleemann products seem to be the best out there for your car.
Cheers and hopefully I will meet some of you in NJ next month,

I bought my charger used from a guy on these forums that had a SL500. The cost savings was significant and the end result the same as if I had bought it new, minus the extra cash of course. If anyone is ever interested in stopping by Boston and taking a ride, as a fellow enthusiast, I say welcome!
One thing I can tell you is that what is said about the HP being hyped up a bit is absolutely correct. Nevertheless, the Kleemann products seem to be the best out there for your car.
Cheers and hopefully I will meet some of you in NJ next month,
Learso
I did not know that you can use a used Kleemann unit. If you know of anyone that has one for sale, i'm a taker.

Hey prsmith,
Well, the S/C is in but the shop where it was installed has had a btch of a time getting other things right. Bottom line is that they are slow, period. What was supposed to be a 1 week event turned into 1 month. The car is getting a bracket fixed that the shop most likely broke (they will not take responsibility) and the car should be done next week around Wednesday...about 5 weeks in since this all started.
But I saw this install itself and it looks first class. If you can deal with slowness, the shop is good. Anyway, I should be driving it next week around Wednesday. I will no doubt let you know what turns out from all this.
Hey P, did you get your new car yet?

Wait, your Kleemann Supercharger took a day?!?!
KTR must just blows then.
Although we did have that 4th of July week where the tech was on vacation, still too long IMO. Where did you get it done and how did it come out?
