Test drove CLK63:
I found the car to be very tamed under normal driving conditions. I was surprised that nothing was done to prevent the wheel spin. What is the point of all that power under WOT from a dig if you can't put it down to the pavement? Once the car is in motion and under WOT you can tell the extra ponies are there. But this is what surprised me... When I was driving the car it didn't feel as responsive as my CLK55 is. Now, that can be due to engine not being broken in, or perhaps the ECU needs a reset... whatever the case is the more I drove the 63, the more happier I was with my 55.
I feel that those of us with a 55 have got a really good thing going, and I will tell you why... In CLK class there is no other AMG other than 63 now, and that one is only a Cabrio. The price for the car is just rediculous in my opinion! Yes it is nice, and I love the CLK... just not $90K worth. I think that having an AMG in CLK for $50+K that I paid for it is the best bang for your buck. And I would still rather have the AMG 55 rather than 550.
So, I am not sad that 550 came out or that AMG63 is out... I believe that 55 now is an affordable AMG in CLK class, and the only one that makes sense for the money... and is still damn quick.
L.
Is it better....YES...imho but for 83Kish......the CLK550 is a better value for day to day driving... (again imho)
BTW....the CLK63 has a much better exhaust note.
can't believe CLK55 is better than CLK63.
CLK63 should even be faster than E63.
I think you have not got used to the 7G-tronic yet.
