Did you see the reply to your sig statement in July's Car and Driver?
"The Ferrari is the nice girl you bring home to mom and dad. The Lamborghini is the wild **** you sleep around with"
Some one took offense to that statement and wrote C&D about it. They cancelled their subscription, C&D response was,
OK the Ferrari is a **** too!
LOL,
Tim
that means almost every 6th new car is a mercedes-benz and it´s sold by the mercedes dealer where i work, because "mercedes hofmann" is responsable for paderborn and höxter (the next two citys)

Can't count here, either.People drive Mercedes as a symbol of "wealth" & "social position", even in recession, the MB sells pretty well here,
while other luxury brands struggle.
Impressive you guys have sharp observation on your neighbors.
Any pretty girls around ?

up the street, another e320 and the house beside it has a CLK 320 convertible, up more, my dentist has a CLK55 and up the street more, there is a brand new SL500.....not to mention, there are all the different kind of other benzes that the owner of the dealership of my town has, seen him drive SL 600, S500's, ML 55, and alot of ML 320's
yeah that's my street.....and there is at least another 20-30 more benzes in the surroundin area that ranges from C240's to S500 :o
The 320 and 430 are owned by babes, but dim ones that get glazed looks when I explain the 55 is one with the BIG johnson...
LOL
One oddity: they're almost all stock....nobody here bothers to do bodykits and those mods
Recession my foot
Atherton, CA (population 7,000): Maybe 35% of cars on the road are Mercedes, 20% BMW

This isn't "HILLBILLY" is it?
Just checking,! I think the % are a little low. Unless you are counting the people driving thru from EPA?
i live in a 700 house private community. Almost every single house has a Mercedes-Benz or BMW, and some of them like mine have two or three.
So, give or take, you are looking at a 2100 + Mercedes-Benz and BMW community. BUT only one C32 in my community, which is mine. Quite a few M3s coupe and convertible. a couple M5s, and E55s, S55, CL55, etc.

btw when i was in Taiwan this July, i went to the sea side park by one of the costco (can't give exact location name cuz i don't know the name...lol) There were at least 30-40 new 735i/Li in a parade. I think it was one of those promotion party by the BMW, Taiwan.
Should have brought my camera that day. Now that's a sight.
customcdseller,

Now, on the other hand, if you're counting my street or just Atherton residents.....that's a whole different story

BTW have you spent time in the area? I thought it was a long drive from Rocklin to Atherton
I don't get the hillbilly thing sorry. Well the thing is that Atherton is normally filled with gardeners / house cleaners / workers from other cities, so it does bring down the average. I wanted to give a conservative estimate...I don't want anyone to accuse me of inflating the #'s. What would your estimate be?

The "HillBilly" thing came form another forum.
There was a guy on the corvette forum that lived in Atherton. I believe he was an attorney. We use to talk sometimes. Anyway
I lived in Sunnyvale/Southbay for about 20 years. I use to go to Palo Alto for treatments. I had to go thru Atherton almost every day.
So is it true if BMW had a recall Atherton would be in Grid Lock?
LOL

If BMW had a recall, I'm sure our mighty police force of I believe 4 (four!) would breathe a sigh of relief from having to ticket reckless Athertonians from driving 43 down a 35mph stretch
But seriously, I think about half of Atherton would be stuck at home.....except for those with a "spare" Mercedes
On a lighter note, just to prove how bizzare Athertonians are, here's a recent police blotter report: "A man called to report a large light in the sky. It was the moon."

Oh ok. You sounded familiar with the region; in most parts of the nation, EPA is that environmental agency.....around here it carries a much different meaning (and no, not East Part of Atherton)

Did you have to subdivide your property so that you could provide low income housing for your servents?
Just some more trivia about Atherton!
I'd say Athertons is a nice place to leave, except the Fences are to high to see the Mansions.
MB ranks No.2 import cars here in Taiwan, where 20% cars
are imported, dozens of MB owners live nearby, most are stock
ones, they're not rare enough to catch my eyes, either.
a SC400 of my neighbor I noticed which is rare here.
C32AMG ? I'll count it for it's rare around here my place.
