Well when you have the need for four seats and you want a high performance convertible there are few options. Yeah the SL's are nice, but I need the room (kids).

Who cares about the price, this is not an investment its a car. The cost was not a factor for me.

I get many compliments on my car and seeing a blonde in a convertible CLK63 looks very sexy to a lot of people. I live in So. Orange county so a convertible is what I want and why not get one that can get up and move!

Oh and yeah I am a "chick" and I agree that especially with the colors of my car, it is a "chick" car. Can't we chicks (moms) have nice cars too! I am not an SUV or Sedan type, convertible it is!

Welcome, fellow CLK/AMG owner. Are you one of the "OC Housewives"?

Housewife's of OC

Chappy,

I assume you saw the Housewife's of OC last (my wife watches the show so I watch it sometimes for the cars) week where one of the "ladies" was given a new CLK63. My assumption is that MB owns the advertising for this show as all of the cars are MB and featured quite well. I admit the CLK63 in black and silver was very nice looking but I had to laugh that it was a lady receiving the vehicle, who had no clue about the AMG line or performance level of the car. The true value of the car was lost before the gift was given. However, for filming purposes, she must have practiced driving the car out of the drive way without TQ thrusting anyone (they had 4 girls in the car) through the seats. When I first pressed on the gas for my test drive in my CLK55 everything in the ash tray and front went flying into the back seat! That is what sealed the deal!

I am sure this is not the case for 63 AMG, since she has taken an interest in this forum. Congrats on the nice car.

Thank You

Thank you ashutt. I guess I get a little upset when I hear people talking so negative about this car. It goes back to " If you don't have anything nice to say....."

I appreciate all the MB cars and would never talk down any of them. Everyone is different and that is why they make different cars to suit different people.

As far as the OC Housewifes, I only watched a bit of the first season and that was enough for me. Those woman represent probably only 5-10% of the woman in OC if that.

Ok off to the day spa and lipo after, just kidding!

Until I can afford a new AMG CLK63, I'll stick with a cheaper car.. hence I'm getting a BMW 3 series

My apologies. I didn't see photos of your 63 above (now that I see your car is White....the lady in OC had a Black one). By no means was my intent to slam you, I was just excited by the prospect that we had another celebrity in our midst. We've had several here over the years.

Again, welcome....and enjoy that 475hp beast!

I like cabrios too....real fast ones!

I gotta admit, if I saw a blonde "chick" driving a CLK63 I might start to drool a little

Chappy- Did you drive a CLK DTM?!?!?!?!?!

Merc and AMG has a couple of problems with the CLK63.

First, they have priced it out of the reach of the target market for the car.

Second, Due to overproduction of the cars (especially from AMG), the rate of depreciation is obscene. Take the SL65 for example. I have a friend who paid $211K out the door, and sold it 18 months later, with 2000 miles for $115K. I know that he will never buy another new Merc again.

Besides the above mentioned points, why does the CLK63 have a left sided dual exhaust? It looks stupid. Quad exhaust would make it look a lot more aggressive and if anything, it needs to be looking more mean than it currently is

Wow!! Your friend throw a CLK63 AMG out of the window in 1,5 years... That means every mile he drove with the SL65 cost him more than 50 USD...

Not sure of the exacts on this one, but it has to do with the convertible top. I too agree that it would look better with the quad exhaust. I have requested a quote to add the quad exhaust, but have not got back the exact amount.

What's up with high ends comment? I have never heard anyone say that the C55 was a chick car? I know this is the wrong forum to say it but I've always thought of the clk as more of a chick car than the c. I am of course partial as I have a c55 and had a c43 before it. I bought the c over the clk however becuase it is faster and handles better. I do like the look of the clk's but cannot stand the wierd interior stuff with the vents etc. It just kills it. I like the slk55 over both of course but that is even more of a chick car and has ZERO room! Besides I have a 996 so it's kinda redundant.

who cares about the price? well A LOT of people do hence its not selling
they overpriced the car period.

here's a quote for you from Car and Driver :
The biggest negative is probably the heart-stopping $92,575 base price, some $45,600 above an entry-level CLK350. That’s also $5100 more than big-brother E63, which seems backward.
At that price, it seems Mercedes’ fabulous new engine is destined to stay rare. That’s a shame.

Geez, how old are your kids 63 amg? If I had any myself (and I don't), I don't think I'd want any kid over about 5 or 6 in those back seats - they're just too tiny and squished. Maybe the CLK 63 has bigger rear seats than my (wheezing old 2002) CLK 55, but I'd be surprised if they were that much bigger. These cars will never be mistaken for a minivan.

I throw my friends who are over 6' tall in the backseats with no problem.

And your CLK63 is a beautiful car. I wanted to get one, but I couldn't justify the price (plus I would have to break my lease and roll payments into that one). But yeah, the CLK63 looks great. Its classy but still aggressive, plus it is very rare.
