New Kleemann blower for the CLK 550
Kleemann threw down the gauntlet today ... the're calling out AMG's 63 motor.
Kleemann introduces a new blower for the M273 V8 motor which is found in the current CLK 550 among other MB models. This next gen supercharger features variable boost and better management of the air fuel ratio to avoid running too lean. Kleemann claims 475 horsepower or 505 horses if you get the headers. That's a slightly less dramatic a gain that what Kleemann claims for the older M113 55 motor, but then again the 550 starts with more horsepower. Driveability is said to be more like a N/A engine but still with plenty of torque down low (90% at 2000 rpm).
I haven't checked prices, but even if the 550 K were both more powerful and cheaper to buy than a 63 I would probably still go for the AMG, for the brakes and chassis set-up and the breeding. But competition improves the breed ....
