Well it only took 3 months but I finally have my car back. The engine has been repaired at a cost of $2600. This included 1 new piston, 8 sets of rings, 16 new rod bolts, head and valve cover gaskets and labor. The labor to remove and replace the engine was $1500 plus a few hundred more for misc. parts and $100 for a new battery.

I now have to wait a 1000 miles to break in the engine (without going into boost). Then I will change the oil and begin to monitor the wideband O2 sensor to hopefully find why it went lean. I plan on replacing the original MAF to see if that was the problem. Time will tell.

Even after spending all that time and money its still nice to have my car back. I had a Porsche 996 twin turbo part of the time and a SL55 (full Kleemann) some of the time and I still missed my CLK.

I will keep you guys updated as to my progress. Thanks to everyone that has help along the way.

wow! 2600.00 to rebuild is not bad at all. Good luck and don't blow this one up! Keep an eye on your A/F's.

Haven't had the radio on yet. Hearing every noise the car makes. Driving me even crazier!

How did you set up the O2 sensor? Is it on the dash?
