Took the CLK for a little drive.... 1 of 2
Howdy all,
Just got back from a little drive in my CLK55 (Dallas - Wyoming and back), and was quite pleasantly surprised with the mpg I got on various legs of the trip. I was not expecting 27mpg!! Am curious as to what one should expect. I have attached some pics to indicate the distances, average speed, etc. over which the data was collected.
Look forward to your feedback. Am posting additional pics of the CLK on location in thread 2/2..

Nice. I noticed my mileage improving steadily as I put more miles on the engine. I've hit 25+ mpg on the hwy as well (overall 22-23 mpg with lots of hwy driving). My car is reaching 50k miles btw. How many miles on yours?

I was quite surprised at the mileage that I got on a trip 2 months ago. I believe it ended up being around 24.5 mpg, while cruising between 85-90 the entire trip for 354 miles. I still had almost a quarter of a tank left after the 354 miles. The mileage of my car was 17k at that time.

Forget the Toyota Prius, drive a 55 CLK!
To tell you the truth, I am getting SICK of 15 mpg -- or worse -- doing short trips or getting stuck in Paris traffic. Gas here costs seven bucks a gallon.
Next weekend, everything changes. It's road trip time : east to the Luxembourg border, north into Germany for fun on the Autobahn. Then I swing west into Holland ... destination the NLSteve workshop.
Can you say linguatronic ?

Funny enough I have a CLK55 and a Prius.
Question though -- I have a 2001 CLK55 and I can't see to get to that screen that shows the miles/MPH/MPG. Was that some sorta option? Or am I just an idiot and can't figure out my car?

Changing the screen
RTFM.
Haha, just kidding. Occupational hazard; that's a standard response.
If you've got a 2001 CLK 55, you can change the screen with the little "window" buttons on your steering wheel.

I read the manual and it describes that screen but when I flip thru, that screen is not there. It does also talk about an onboard computer or something. Is that a standard screen or part of something else, that possibly I don't have? What are the 2 screens that it is in between?

Since you have the Manual, guess it is easiest to refer to it in my response (no offense). Pg 86 has the main screens you scroll through and then once you get to screen 6 scrolling through the sub menus on 6 gave me the screens on pg 100 of the manual. Hope this helps.

Oh well, I don't have it which sucks. I'd like those stats. Sorry to take over your thread.
