How do I get more HP from my 2002 CLK55?

What have people done to get more HP? I've read about exhaust mods. I've read about removing the screen in the mass flow sensor (which I am skeptical about). What about other stuff? Superchargers kits? etc... I'd like to know what has worked for other people and how to, or where to buy the parts. Thanks.

Speed costs money. What's your budget?

rsr911 09-25-2007 10:48 AM

The easiest way is one word - Kleeman = big $$$$$$

WARP55 09-25-2007 01:31 PM

Ditto

Supercharging (especially KLEEMANN) plus cams, headers, ECU upgrade and limited slip differential is the only way to achieve really max power from your 208 IMHO:zoom:

#1, don't mess with the mass air flow sensor.....

you can get some new air filters put in, do the rear cat + resonator delete, the sprint booster, ECU reflash, headers, and exhaust, but you really won't feel that much of a difference.

The Kleemann and Renntech superchargers will run you about $14-15k installed...... you will definitely be able to feel the difference.

The best bang for your buck is to just get a 100 shot direct port nitrous system installed. For right around $500.00 that would be the most HP gain for the price..... now is it the safest? hell no! But it's definitely the cheapest!

I agree. Except direct port nitrous is gonna cost you way more than 500 bucks. A simple wet shot with all the bells and whistles will set you back $2k installed. But it is the best bang for your buck.

If you have the $$$ get the kleemann s/c, headers, ecu tune, and lsd.

IngenereAMG 09-26-2007 08:27 PM

It all depends on how much you want to spend. You also have to figure how long you are going to keep the car for. You also have to remember it is very difficult to get your money out of mods when you sell. If you are keeping the car for a long time, it almost doesn't matter what you spend.

Our performance solution for the NA 55 engine will improve throttle response, broaden the power band, improve the mid range punch, remove the speed limiter and give ~30-35hp gain. ....and the price won't break the bank!

Your car isn't going to be a 10second 1/4 mile car, but you will enjoy the driving experience much more.

I agree about direct port being a little more than $500 but where in the world does a wet kit cost $2k :eek::eek:

What is your performance solution?

A Chip might work...Powerchip??

I also heard Brabus had some Camshafts for that engine...

hey Black do u have nitrous in ur car now.

doesn't it slowly kill the engine (even though our 55's have forged internals :D)

Anywhere around here. Just the parts are over a grand. Basic EFI import kit, remote bottle opener, digital window switch, and bottle heater will be well over $1k. Sure if you want to just strap a bottle to the car you can get it for alot cheaper.

Quant- as of right now my car is in the shop and I will pick it up tomorrow :v: I'm only going to be running a wet 50 shot that only sprays when armed, at WOT, and above 3500rpm. Pretty safe if you ask me. If I blow my motor it will be rebuilt with lower compression and all hell will break loose! :X Do you know where I can get that widebody in your avatar?

I installed high flow manifolds on my 430 and got +10 whp and +10 wtq... Would do even more on that AMG of yours!!! :y

gregc 09-27-2007 10:21 PM

mods

after market parts for these cars are way too high. If you want to spend, do something that will make a diff. NOS or blower.

Most are, but there are some that you can get that won't break the bank.

We can set up the ECU for better performance.

Thats the price of buying a nice car. You buy a mustang if you wan't cheap mods, not an AMG.

So a chip will give you +35hp gains?

I got ya but why would you pay the extra money for install it is so simple, and has instructions :nix:

Oh and by simple I thought you just meant a wet shot, not a remote BP, heater and all the extra stuff, ya get me :y

I guess a 'smart ass' answer would be... "Trade it on a CLK63AMG BS!" Sorry about that Porgie... I couldn't resist! :rolf: Magwheel
