Ironically, the only ones who care about the meaning an AMG badge used to carry will spot the poser right away. Everyone else just sees an old Mercedes with extra badges.

Ok guys. I joined a couple W209 groups on Facebook and the amount of posers I see is astonishing to say the least. I call out every single one of them. The biggest pushback I get is people saying their car came with the badge from the factory. Now please correct me if I’m wrong, but there is no way a non 55 or 63 would have an AMG badge from the factory, correct? Am I missing something? Is it different outside the USA? Does the Europe market put these badges on at the factory? I would guess not but I really don’t know. How can these people on Facebook be so sure they got that fake badge from the factory? Is there any truth to a CLK500 or a CLK550 getting an AMG badge from the factory? Can’t be true.

some cars get the AMG appearance pack. those are official AMG parts and the badge could come from the factory on said cars. I have also heard of dealers putting badges on those cars. But i am guessing that most people get defensive when called out and say something like that

All I say to those who insist that their car is an AMG is to put their VIN into the private AMG lounge...they will not be admitted...MB will tell them that they don't have an AMG.

Just bought a e320 wagon, thankfully have a e63 grill to fit the e63 bumper I have coming in. But I’m debadging the whole car. Looks cleaner anyway. I get the whole don’t upbadge your car. For that reason even when I swap in my m113k the badges will remain off

Mercedes Benz factory will never ever put an AMG badge on a non-AMG car. That is a fact!
They will fit AMG parts on to their cars but will never add the badge to the trunk.

Bingo, I believe they do it for the very reason above.
We just love reminding them of it, that's all. It's all our faults. We need to back off, practice restraint and leave them be.
Don't forget, in today's world... they can "identify" themselves as AMG owners. There's nothing you or I can do about it.

factory purchased poser kit
The Service department in Las Vegas said my wifes W209.475 has a poser kit bought from Benz. Cant stand the 55 AMG emblem cause fake sucks Love the CLK 500 that it is, but jeeeeesh. Whats with the poser thing on these cars.

There's nothing wrong with putting an AMG badge on the trunk of your car. Maybe the factory forgot to put it on.
