AMG posers

It has taken me quite a while to read through this thread, and must agree with the majority here. I can understand trying to improve on what you have, but putting a badge on something that isn't, is just plain tacky.
If you truely want to put a badge on your benz, spend the money on something that will really make it stand out... Kleemann! Meaning, buy the parts BEFORE you tag it. This is my dream.

i think one of the most eligible cars for AMG badge stock is a clk430. except for the motor, they really are a full AMG car, they ALL came standard with body, wheels, brakes, suspension, and even the inflatable seats similarly found in the C43's. i love those clk430's they have my blessing for AMG badges!

...and I thought I'd never see a poser near here. I WAS WRONG!
Here is a crappy picture of a CLK500 with an AMG badge... look close, its there!
I wanted to get a picture of the dude driving it, but I had to exit.
I'd love to see more POSER pics! Don't we all have cameras on our phones now? Its time to expose the posers and have some laughs!

the CLK430's do NOT come standard w/ the inflatable seats. That is an option.
I guess Mercedes didn't think it was "eligible" enough , as Mercedes did NOT badge it from the factory for a reason......BIG reason........MISSING AMG MOTOR.

If people want to place the AMG badge on their non-AMG cars, let them be. THEY know they are posing. THEY know they don't drive a AMG car. THEY are the ones looking stupid.
SO every time I see a poser on the road, I just pull up next to him/her, downshift to 2nd, give them a couple of jerks, and then blow the doors off his/her car to leave him/her thinking "damn. that's how a real AMG is supposed to sound, drive, look."

Some of you are taking this whole badging deal to heart, which is rather pointless as it should be something to laugh at and care less about.
A few months ago I saw an R600 4Matic...did this personally offend me and my "600 honor"...please.
This is just something to be amused with. I have no hatred for poseurs; in fact, they can be quite entertaining at times with their antics.

Actually you don't. I understand the stance toward posers, but it will continue. I see so much of this in Atlanta I wonder if people are buying these cars without realizing that the badge was slapped on by a previous owner, or dealer and not know about this whole "posing" bit.
I actually saw one at a MB dealership, a CLS no doubt. The AMG was slapped on, and I asked the dealer about it, and he said "Well it does have the AMG styling and kit." Go figure? LOL.
Don't forget, this happened to me personally when I bought my CLS from out of state. I caught it from looking at the pics on the listing the 55 and AMG were on there. I had them to remove the 55, put the 500 back on, I didn't bother with the AMG until I discussed it with some of you here, and understood the take on it.

In 2005 I went to my local MB dealership with the intention of buying a 12 cylinder car. When I arrived I had no pre-conceived notions as to whether I would be leaving with a 600 or an AMG 65. Ultimately I decided on getting a CL65 and it appeared they had two on the lot, both of which were silver, had full AMG body kits and had actually been fitted with the dark grey steel five spoke AMG rims found only of AMG 65 models. The salesman told me that they were both '05 CL 65's when in actuality one was a CL500 outfitted with a full body makeover to make it look absolutely identical the CL65. It was only after he consulted an updated inventory list and checked the VIN's and took a look under the hood (the entire procedure taking more then an hour) that he realized how wrong he had been. Now in the end I left with the real deal, all 604 horsepower included and accounted for, but I can't tell you how disgusted I was with that dealership. Ultimately someone else in Boston, where I live, had a car that cost half as much that in the eyes of the public was the same exact car.
When a brand has a sub-division that is supposed to represent exclusivity and some of the non-exclusive versions get treated to an identical appearance package, by an authorized dealership no less, the rarity and exclusivity disappear. It was so disappointing and its actions like that which cripple and ruin the AMG name.
