My 01 CLK55's engine has died twice on me at a stop light recently. I know that the CPS is the usual suspect for this issue, but my symptoms are not exactly the same as what I have read here on the forum.
The second time the engine died, it was within five minutes of starting up, so the engine was not hot. Also, both times the engine started right back up with no cool down period necessary and continued running all day with no problems. No CEL on start up.
Still sound like a CPS? When the CPS fails, do the symptoms occur consistently or could they appear intermittently like mine? Anything else it could be?
Thanks!

Below are two links to other threads that discuss similar problems. For me, and my symptoms were more pronounced than yours, it was the Air Mass Sensor. Hopefully they may help you.
