CLK55 cab ##s and Designo
Only 1400 will ever be made! And probably only 100 designos (expresso and cashmere) total of the CAB. And only USA gets the CLK55 cab.
The Star Magazine said that only 12...or was it 9, CLK55 Designo Expresso versions of the coupe where made in 2000, with only one with COMMAND.

I read the same article as well...
interesting that only the US got the CLK55 Cab (European gas prices explain most of this) and just for one model year. Although since the CLK55 coupe was already in production, getting certification was easy.
Since AMG (for European customers) will build many variations if the customer is paying for it, I guess the word got out that a CLK55 cab could be built.
I'll bet the rarest CLK55 Cab will be a Designo Cashmere Edition - most likely this would only turn up on an as-ordered basis because of a color that no one would have seen before - and the higher price.

There have been CLK55 cabs in Europe [by paying the appropriate fee to AMG] well before the '55 went to the USA
[I saw one being made at the AMG hand-build workshop about 2 years ago] [It was someones slightly used car]
Theres not CLK55 cab's been sold thru the Mercedes UK dealer network though, but if you pitch up at AMG with a RHD CLK430 cab Im sure they'll '55 it for you !! [in fact, theres some of the London dealers that Im sure would arrange that with AMG]

it would be nice if had the only one...
that is a Designo Espresso with Command, but mine is a 2001. I wonder what 2000 is, Model Year which they didnt have a MY00 for MBUSA or Year in which the cars were sold. There would have only been four months in 2000 to get a CLK55. Oh well, I love the Designo Espresso.

I know of 2 local dealers have CLK55 Cabs for the list as of last week. One dealer has a silver CLK55 Cab for a while now, asking list price and still not gone yet.

Anyone got a copy of that Star Magazine article? I'm reviving this old thread because the subject matter interests me. I have a CLK 55 designo coupe (similar but not identical to espresso). It has COMAND and was built towards the end of MY 2002. How rare is that? How did Star get a hold of production numbers?
