Nice white 2005 CLK500 and I used to own the 04 black opal CLK55 and can recommend it 100%. Their ad does not include all the mods I made to the car. PM me if you're interested, black opal is a very rare color and looks great.. http://www.justmercedes.com/inventor...***&_used=true

is black opal truely a very rare color or your assumption. curious because i have a black opal too. what defines rare when it comes to colors is there some data out there the identifies production numbers by color? just curious that is all..

Black opal is a customer ordered color that is not typically ordered by a franchise dealer. For example, when you enter a showroom most of the cars you see are bright (silver, red, white, gray) or earthtone (light blue, light brown) to attact your attention. Darker cars such as black opal, black, blue are more ominous looking and are generally viewed as more difficult to maintain, especially in areas with seasonal climates i.e. they don't sell as well as the brighter colored cars. I don't know the percentage of black opal cars vs. other colors but I think you'll find there are a lot fewer of these cars than those with what I call "showroom colors". BMW maintains production records that show the uniqueness of each of their cars. I'm not sure MBUSA does. I'm currently trying to find out the number of 06 SL55's that were produced with the 030 performance package. I've been told it's less than 10% of the 719 cars produced in 2006 but so far I can't find any evidence to support that claim.
