Well, I just put in the deposit for a silver 2001 CLK55 with 14000 miles and K2a package(phone, CD-changer, and voice activation) The price is $50,600 and it is coming from New Jersey. This is with 1 year Starmark plus remaining warranty. I quess it is time to think about COMAND retrofit again. I can't wait to see the car next week and hopefully it is in prestine condition as the dealers( NJ and mine) said.

you should get a 2 or better yet a 3 year starmark MB warranty, taking you to 100,000 miles for that price for a 2001 without COMAND.

My wife gave in to the silver since the red one is $5500 more with no options and the black opal I lost out. I wonder if anyone on this forum beat me to it with the black opal CLK55???!!! I will buy 2 extra years of extended warranty to go with this car and I will keep this one until the next CLK. This car is going to fun!

The MB extended premium warranty is only available during the FIRST year. That's why the starmarked warranty by a MB dealer is the next best thing - and only a MB dealer can provide this type of starmark warranty.
That is followed by Daimler-Chrysler extended warranties. That's why I recommend that the MB dealer should extend the starmarking.

Hello Karl,
The dealer offered but I have to pay the difference. Which is fine with me and this will give me a total of 5 years/100,000 miles, including the existing warranty. I didn't realize the Starmark will not start and kick in until I bring my car for the first warranty service after the original warranty expires.

Why dont you just hold out for the red 55?Whats with all this settling?What is your rush? It doesnt make any sense to buy a car then go getting command retrofitted. It will be alot easier on you and the dealer to just get a car with it. I believe the commands that are being used to retrofit are European commands which wont be covered under warranty.
I have a Magma Red Clk and im telling you its simply gorgeous. Every clk I drive by compliments me on it. They all say" Ive never seen a clk that color before its gorgeous i wish i would have gotten that...yadadada."
Just hold out for the color you really want or you and your wife will end up regretting it the minute you pull up next to that magma red 55 at the light. I never understood peoples haste to just give away their money at their expense. Wait for what your wife really wants. Just my 2 cents.

I did offer my wife the red CLK55 but she said she won't pay $5500 more( negotiated price $56000, original price $58,900) and spending another $2000 for the phone and voice activation. This red CLK55 doesn't have Comand either. In fact the whole Mercedes preowned inventory has only 1 cars with Comand) I only want to purchase through Mercedes Benz because of the Starmark extended warranty.
She loves her red CLK320 but she will only keep it for another 1-2 years. She doesn't like the current CLK and her choice is limited. I offered her the red C32 but she declined also. The reason she decided to go with the silver because it is an AMG, or else she wont' ever consider it. Now she is talking about kicking my *** with her CLK55!!!
She also wants a CLK55 with low mileage and remaining original warranty. 15000 miles is the maximum but the most important is the price. She doesn't want to pay premium for red CLK.
