It can be done - but why?

Yes it can be done but it aint gonna be cheap.
These engines are factory balanced and blueprinted. I have seen them in person being assembled in Affalterbach.

You will need to know what you are doing or have a professional do it to make sure it is done correctly to give you what AMG originally intended.

No need to mess with all the work and effort that AMG put into the engine from the beginning

thanks for the reply, yeah was thinking it would be pricey but was just curious to how much it was and if anyone has done it. I have not seen a w209 for sale with mileage over 100k but have seen a few 208's with 130k+. how many miles do you all have on your vehicles?

I rebuilt mine, it was a joke to rebuild, easy as pie, expensive to do, but its easier then it looks.

Did you lower the compression? Why did you need to change the rods?

I raised compression, and the rods look scary to me, for the power they will see.
