When I have the key in pocket and go to open door it doesn't work.

If I hit open on remote and go to pull door handle open the door locks on me as I pull on the actuator embedded in the handle and then I can't open door. I have to pull handle carefeully w/o pulling actuator to get into car.

The passenger side doens't do that however I can't just walk up to passenger door and have it work (open).

Both doors do allow me to lock by pressing the square shaped lock button on handle. And engine will start and stop using the kelyless go.

Dealer said I need to order a new key to see if the problem is the key or car. Does this sound the most logical next step?

I just got car less then 2 weeks ago on ebay.

dealer told me to change the 2 batteries in the key.

(I will change them soon to see if that works)

That would be great to know because if that's the case then I will just order a non keyless-go spare key from dealer.

p.s. in a nutshell what's the difference like b/w your CLK63 and 55?

we had a similar issue, the car would randomly shut off while driving (keyless go), no radio or navi sound, no cd changer recognition.

Finally Convinced dealer to replace command navi headunit, no issues for the past year.

Sometimes sensors that detect the key go bad, i had similar problems on my 04CLK5 with driver door not working. Dealer replaced the door handle that contained the sensor.

One dealer I talkd to said replacing door handle is prob the answer. I would have to leave the car there and pay $130 check out charge to diagnose the problem. Right now it's not affecting me driving the car on a leisure basis so for now I may just order a spare non-keyless go key in case I lock myself out of car.

How much did it cost to replace the door handle?

My extended warranty has a 250 deductable, so i just payed a mechanic to do it on the side for 160. i don't know how much he got the door handle for or even if he used the money i gave him to pay for the part. all i know is that he fixed it
