CLK 55 4-pipe exhaust from AMG
how would you fit it on? i tried it already and even the customizing shops here won't do it.
there is absolutely no space at the undercarriage. the spare wheel takes up most of the space.
Why don't you ask MBUSA in the mean time why they don't offer the 4-pipe exhaust in the US?
Ronald

Wow, with a V8 I thought it would be at least 2.
Any ideas on this?
So, it's only a single pipe going from the headers to the exhaust?

Could that be the new CLK55 with the new V8K Autocar magazine recently reported???
BTW, I finally got mine:

that looks so hot, i want one on my 208
But I once saw a CLK 55 (W 208) with a 'fake' 4-pipe exhaust. There was no rear silencer on the right side. Only the end pieces that were connected to the left rear silencer, but you didn't notice until you looked under the car. If I remember correctly, this was done by the German tuner http://www.vaeth.com/

i want that exhaust so bad..
p.s. MBUSA is so bad at customer service, i still haven't gotten answer as to why we can't get the dual exhaust here and the E55 can have it.

Don't you have any top-notch mechanics that aren't afraid of the underbody work? Or would there be a problem with certification afterwards?
Ronald

I am looking into the model mufflers used and see if they will sell a kit for you 208 guys. It may be posible to accomplish the same for the 209 chassis but EVO has not done a 209 as yet. If one of you California guys with a 209 can visit EVO they will devlop the same for the 209!
I might suggestthat for those interested see a reputable body shop - maybe even at your dealer - to cut out the bumper and do the paint touch up, then have the exhaust installed.
Let me know if anyone in the USA runs across of a quad system for the 209.
For those of you with the 208 Chassis, EVO Sport in California (evosport.com) has already performed the quad exhaust conversion. They accomplish it by turning two AMG mufflers 90 degrees and packing them into the same space as the bigger single muffler. Then they run the second pipe to the passenger side as in the AMG conversion. This eliminates the need for cutting up the spare tire well.

I'm on the east coast. We'll need to get one of our west coast contingent to see and hear the car!

Some suggestions for your visit with Carlsson.
While you are there see if you can get a part number (and euro price) for the Carlsson quad kit for the CLK55 - 209 chassis. Then we could all order it from Oberklasse here in the USA.
You could also inquire if their quad kit is a true dual exhaust as I assume the AMG version is, as opposed to a single pipe that Y's off into the quad exhaust.
Do they state any performance gain?

Lastly, it would be helpful if they could provide some installation instructions. With that in hand we could go to local auto shops (tuners) and see who is capable of performing this conversion before ordering.
Lookimg forward to hearing from you next week.
