My 55 is happy

So I bought the new Bilstein sport shocks...haven't installed them b/c I'm on crutches with torn ligaments in my ankle

I bought the rear strut bar thats for sale in the non-amg forum. Should be a pretty nifty little addition. Might put off my desire for an LSD by a wee bit.

Today, I'm mailing off my ECU to Oliver @ speedtuningusa for a 93 octane tune and ashutt's 6400 rpm bump

All my headlights, foglights, blinkers etc are working now, knock on wood! 6000k lows and 3000k 55w fogs. It's a nice view! I need some city bulb replacements tho...

And she's been debadged! I suppose I still owe you all pics of her fully blacked out. Next time I wash her! (no promises, these crutches are pretty limiting)

Wish list: kleemann headers, dual 3" piping w/ bullet mufflers, LSD

FYI, You will need your TCU done as well to get the 6400rpm redline, it won't work with engine ECU alone (even in manual mode). The TCU isn't cheap either

Correct, I know b/c I have custom 6400rpm engine ECU but still shifts at 6k (no matter what), didn't bother getting the TCU b/c honestly I prefer the shorter gearing b/c it puts you at peak torque in next gear. Its a personal preference some like more rpms, others don't. If you have headers, high flow cats, pulley, K&Ns & more, then it makes sense for the extra rpms (if you want) but if the car is only stock/lightly modded then it really isn't necessary since power really starts to drop off past 6000rpm. However, if I ever do 5spd or 6spd swap... then 6400 would be nice

I'm looking forward to it. However, I heard that the 6400 works for manual mode, but in Drive, the TCU overrides it. Ashutt had his done this way. Are you guys sure that's not the case?

I am running literally a higher level of that same software running it so yes 100% sure. TCU can get as high as $600+ depending on model.

I agree, very odd. Some cars allow you to, others the ECU or TCU cuts in and it appears to be random, I guess mine doesn't want more revs .

I can confirm that in manual mode on my car, it will without fail reach redline of 6500; However, in automatic mode it will still shift at 6000. Nonetheless, the 6500 bump is great at the track when using manual mode since it can stay in 2nd and 3rd longer without hitting the redline cut.

I agree, on the track it makes alot of sense, but in straight line it may not be necessary depending on the setup. With that said 6400-6500 must sound nice once the M113 is opened up.

AMS, I may have asked this before (sorry in advance) but can you give me a price for your headers and pully upgrade for my 2001 CLK55? I also have the SpeedTuneUSA chip upgrade set for 94 octane. Would I need a reflash as well again? Thanks.

Sure thing, the Stage 2 Performance package is $1699 ($100 discount, down from $1799). That is for both the headers & pulley for your W208 CLK55 AMG. Nope, reflash not necessary the ECU will adapt to the new modifications after roughly 1 week.

For more details on Stage 2 PP :

Thanks and have a nice day,
~AMS~
