2002 CLK55 Cabriolet (DEAD: 1989 300E, 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible)
Creak, creak!

My '02 CLK55 cab has developed a creak in the front driver's side.

It's obviously not there/audible on the freeway, but on rough surface streets it's audible enough to be mildly annoying.

A previous episode was cured - apparently temporarily - by a lube, oil and filter at the local stealership. Not so lucky nowadays. Last visit to the stealership, they couldn't find/fix it.

If I lightly put my body weight on the front bumper and get a side-to-side motion going, I can hear it. Not as much as when I'm on the road obviously, but enough to tell that it's (a) on the driver's side someplace; and (b) it's a horizontal motion that brings it about, not vertical. (I can lift up the front bumper and push it down and I don't hear anything.)

Ring any bells? Any obvious likely candidates?

My dad had an issue like that with his CLK 55. Turned out to be a worn stabilizer link.

I was looking around on the forum for a similar problem as I am looking at a sub $3000 project CLK 55 to buy. I just think it's more of an issue than what I stated. Is it just the stabilizer or something else? I had initially wanted to ask about it on a new thread but reviving an old one seemed better.
