Spark plug question..

Hey guys.

I'll be looking to change my spark plugs soon.

I can get a set of plugs that MB would use during a service, but I was wondering if I should be going for some uprated plugs.

Are there plugs that are better than others?

I know that you can get platinum tipped plugs, but I'm not too sure if they make that much difference.

Can anyone shed some light?

Cheers guys.

Im running laser iridum. Only reason behide that, is the longevity of plug life. Changing 16 plugs often is disgusting on these cars. Ive tried every make and type and noticed nothing between them. Factory benz plugs are platinum or double platinum. Ive used regular copper core plugs as well again with no difference except scratchs and cuts on my arms changing them. Honestly from my experience stick with the same or go with the iridum, either way your only increasing replaciment time. There is a new plug out called Pulstar. If they got the heat range i want , they look interesting.

Hi mate.

Thanks for your response.

I've decided to go with the plugs that Mercedes/ AMG would supply.
They are specific for the M156 engine and, I believe, also platinum tipped.

Seems the best bet.

Cheers, bud.

Rashman,
Check out NGK plugs. There's one that I believe is platinum tipped and under $3/each.
It's the plug many of the folks on the W210 E55 forum are using.

Hi guys.

Yeah, the ones I'm getting are NGK's.

I believe that they are Iridium tipped as apposed to Platinum tipped.

I hear they are very good.
