Baby gets new shoes...

Guys,

OK...

AMG Baby (my W208) just had the original Pilot Sports replaced with PS2's... and we had the steering box bolts re-torqued to spec per the Marcus information. She also got a new steering damper. (Thanks to Tire Rack, AutoTire STL anf AutohausAZ)

So, the bottom line is that I have a new car at 30K miles. A real transformation! I am in heaven. (Keep in mind that there is a W211 E55 in the garage as well)

All you W208 guys... Go and check your steering box bolts and damper. It makes a big difference.

Is this to help with the fabled W208 steering box play - I thought you were best to leave well alone??

Well, you are not adjusting the actual steering gear box if that's what you are saying. The three bolts that you tighten hold the box to the chassis.

The damper gets old over time and contributes to shimmy and other problems, as I understand it.
