to Quaife or not to Quaife

thoughts?
The Quaife LSD is one of the best out there. It's is a gear based unit (torsion type). Basicly it can provide upto 100% lockup (maximum traction), requires no special maintainence and the only way you would know you have it is by gained traction. It's NOT noisy and doesn't shudder.
The Kleemann LSD is basicly 2 spring loaded plates forcing against the spider gears in the diff. It wears, requires frequient oil changes and only provides upto 40% lockup. It's good if you have no other option for you car such as the C43's.
I would spend the extra and get the Quaife.
Can't really tell it was installed, except when you accel from a start around a bend you can feel the power transfer between tires catching grip.
I'll be able to comment more as I make some more power..... I've only got simple bolt ons now.
Prices are dropping on this LSD's now as they are phased out and the new stuff is en vogue......

Quaife don't, but try Kleemann, phatom grip (cheaper version of Kleemann) or drexler motorsport (german company).
The clk500 differential should be the same as the 55. It is pretty easy to look up the differential and carrier in the epc and see if it is the same. I worked on a 2004 clk500 the other day that had the large diff in it. I have not checked but I would be about 99% on the qdf7v fitting.
