2004 CLK55 AMG - radio replacement options
Hi all,
Just joined this forum and see a lot of very useful information from many knowledgeable folks. I have a 2004 CLK55 AMG convertible. Bought it new and have barely driven it 8K miles). There is a problem with the radio and I am looking for some suggetsions.
The car has the stock radio with CD changer (no navi). No FM or WB reception and very poor AM reception. Local shop told me it was probably the amplifier. One option is to fix the amp (if that is the problem). Another option is to replace the stock radio with a new unit with ipod, satellite, HD, and maybe Navi.
How easy/difficult is it to have the stock unit replaced? Approx. costs on top of cost of the new unit? Can guys at a Best Buy audio dept, for example, do the work, or do I need to go to an expert car audio shop? Lastly, if it is the amp then will a new radio resolve the problem or will I need to replace the amp in any event.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
