CLK55 cab impressions, idle vibrations?
Hi all,
It's been a week since I got my 2006 CLK55 cab and I have to say, it's been a major UPSIDE surprise. I'm very excited, and will post pix soon. I had only driven one W209 CLK55 briefly before, and had driven 2 that were W208 chassis. Therefore, this is the longest that I've got to enjoy it, esp in my neighborhood and in my roads(winding and often crappy).
Here are a few observations in no particular order.
- nimble and lots of fun, reminds me of my '89 porsche cab, but faster and more back seat room.
- more solid than my '95 e320 cab, though w124 chassis was very comfy.
- quick fun vs. smooth fun on my S600 (ironically, this CLK55 was supposed to be my wknd car, but could end up as my daily driver given how often my S600's in the shop).
- the HK sound system is much better than the BOSE, though still not as good as after market.
p.s. the car just had new engine mounts installed before I bought the car, but there's still some vibration at idle - is that defective, or could there be other issues?
PL

Was the transmission mount changed as well, along with the engine mount?
I get a little vibration too with my S55, even with new engine mounts - I think naturally the engine a bit, but definitely keep an ear out for unusual noises.
