Gas Mileage
With all the talk about gas prices rising and such, what kind of mileage are you seeing out of your car? I am taking the benz on the first road trip next week and curious what to expect.
I have a 03 CLK55 and have been getting about 18-20 on the freeways in town and about 14 on surface streets. The last 700 miles since getting a new transmission, my average is 17.8.
Your results?

gas mileage
last 2200 miles, 21.2mpg on the computer, seems about correct with gas purchases. I run 93 octane non-ethanol (oxygenated) gas, about 25% city streets, 75% freeway. I tend to keep off the go pedal. When I drove my 95 E320, I averaged almost 25 doing the same driving routes, using the same gas. I ran some 91 octane 10% ethanol gas in the same car and saw a 12% drop in mileage, so you might try to find good gas, and if it's available, run the real stuff. I think most of your gas mileage is going to depend on how you drive the thing, how well you maintain it, and using good gas. My car got 24.4mpg round trip on a 328 mile freeway run last weekend, most of it at 72mph on the cruise control.

unfortunately, we only have 91 octane here. we shall see how the trip to san diego goes next week.
i generally try to stay out of the pedal, but sometimes you just cant resist.
