CLK Black Conversion

Yes I agree with you guys too but forget the engine for a second, the conversion's issues don't lie with the engine. Some guy did it with a CLK63 another with a CLK55 maybe someone did it with a CLK500. The point is it's the bodywork, which I am inquiring about, and the mechanical.
Are the suspension "joints" the same, this is what I'm struggling with. Did they use the same architecture and make braces, change suspension, tyres etc and tune or is the underside completely redeveloped?

They shop that sold me my 63AMG front bumper had an SL65 AMG Black Series parked outside and turns out it was an SL500 that was converted to a 65BS. Same thing, it was the calipers that gave it away and that shop also carries all the body panels to convert the W209 to a Black Series. Parts alone cost 10k then you need a PRO to do all the modifications. The shop is in NY, if you want the contact info I can find it for you.
I don't think I will ever get rid of my 55 so down the road this is something I plan on doing. Such a timeless car, I just can't get enough of it!!

Honestly all the parts were flawless except for the carbon fiber rear diffuser, the threads were kinda sloppy but the body work was on point

So they do the Black body too?!! Can you ask about the suspension and linkages an what not? That for me is more important, anyone can put spacers and make it a bad handling car that looks like the Black, remember I'm not trying to be a poser, I want the wide under-body and if I do that the fenders have to be wide so the Black look is what I would like. The project is performance orientated, not posing. Plus how would they do the work, I'm not in the US. Also is 10k for original Mercedes fenders and if not what material do they use?

been a while since i been on here but i may have a tidbit to save ya some $$$. A company called Prior Design makes a widebody kit for the w208 for about 3.5k and it closely resembles the black edition kit on the w209's

Sorry...I will stick to owning the real thing. The car is reasonable but those brake rotors have to go.

by the way that bs on ebay that went for 60k must have had issues cause they go for 70-80k...

Black Series for 60k? I'm not in the US, it's 200k for a Black Series CLK here. It's WAY more and not going down anytime soon, these things are super rare down here so they'll hold value. Besides like I said I don't want the Black Series, I don't want the 63 engine. I want a Black Series style suspension and chassis setup for handling and the wider track which will need a widebody kit hence the BS kit, I'm not trying to create some poser mobile that says BS CLK63 when it's not. I want it to have the 55k drive-train like the DTM, like I said I want this to be custom. Have been researching lately as much as can between work and life but yes the project doesn't seem to be going too fast. I need all the info before starting to buy things because if I don't get it right and do my planning ahead I'll be stuck at some point and lose time and money.

By the way no offense but the W208 is not what I want, It's just wrong for the image I have, the interior is outdated and do is the exterior, it's just all wrong and that widebody is then than appealing, sorry for being blunt but that's how I feel.

After reading what many people has posted about the conversion to black series. I say do a custom wide body. I would think you could make it cheeper by taking the look from the BS but set it up to fit your project. what I mean is you mite have to do a one in wide body in the front vs. the two inch the BS has. I would just try and make it work.
Good luck and keep us up dated.

Agreed with Ecamp -
The real BS are coming down in price..... I'd get a real one before adding more wgt to a clk without the power to back it up.
A nicely done steel widebody fender job looks very classy on a clk...... there is a renntech widebody steel fender job around here that is the bees kneez
