Replacing Side Markers
I had my car on a lift recently and noticed one of my orange side markers was broken. I'm going to replace them with aftermarket clear or smoke (gray) and thought I'd take a quick poll to see what color you think would look best on my Iridium Silver 07 CLK63 cabriolet. At first I thought clear but now that I've looked at the smoke I'm not sure.

I dont think you can go wrong with either one. For my pewter E, i went with clear. But w/my black E, i went with smoke. The clear just looked cleaner w/the pewter color.

Paint Them
The only way for a really good look is to paint them to match. This can be done by any good body shop for $100 or less. Also, Replace the bulbs with silver lights and have them sand down the lettering on the marker light so it is smooth. The continuity when painted is fantastic. Cheap cosmetic upgrade.
