Having Misfire Issues
So my car was running perfect UNTIL:
I put the W209 intake in my W208. Took me a while to get it to fit but after a few hours and mods it fits perfect. I took the car out for spin and it was running fine. Then I started getting misfires. It got pretty bad. The CEL comes on when i get it past 3000 RPMs. Is this typical when we swap intakes on these cars? I hear it takes a few weeks for the car to get use to the new intake.
Any ideas????

UPDATE:
Swapped back to OEM intake. Was fine for a while then problem started again. Cleaned MAF sensor with electronic cleaner and the problem went away, at least for a hour then it came back.
Ordered new mass air flow sensor. Will up date.
I wonder why the MAF would fail after changing intakes?? Any ideas???

If the air intake is not seated correctly, you will get bad MAF symptoms. Be sure that the rear of the intake is totally seated proir to lowering the front onto the clips.

Here's exactly what happened cause I was thinking that same thing.
I got the W209 intake swapped in my W208 with a few minor problems:
1. The clips on the bottom are not a direct fit, thus needeing to be altered. It still doesn't sit exactly proper.
2. The intake part that connects to the MAF is shorter so it sits lower.
3. The intake tubes needed to be refit.
I added heat wrap on the bottom (maybe the contact of the heat foil is the problem, meaning it's causing the electric current to be unstable because the foil is touching the ignition coils?)
All this done I thought it was seated on the MAF sensor. Took it for a spin and it was working fine. Came back into my garage and it had popped off the MAF. So I wrestled with it for a while not knowing some clip and house came off.
Took it for another spin with it on the MAF sensor, but the hose was not connected, and it started acting up.
So I connected the hose and then it got real bad. The MAF is a bit lose.
I swapped intakes back to OEM and it's still acting up. I sprayed the MAF with cleaner and the problem went away for a few hours but the cane back. So I ordered a new MAF.
And there you have it. Learn from retards lol =D

So after one week of driving it, the problem continued:
There is 2 different kinds of W209 intakes. 2003-2004 and then 2005. The one I have is a 2005 W209. It is different than the 2003-2004 intake. The AC line on the driver side is pushing up on the intake causing the intake to pop the plastic clip off the MAF; therefor, causing the MAF to tilt to the side and the MAF boot to tilt as well. Now I left before I could try to rig it.
Possible Solution:
Bend the AC line out of the way causing a stable seat to the MAF. But this intake sit lower than the stock intake....
