CLK 63 - gearbox problem
I recently purchased a 56 plate CLK63 with 25K on the clock. After a couple of thousand miles of trouble free driving, the gearbox has developed a problem where it clunks/bangs back into first gear when downshifting, only when the engine/gearbox is cold. After 5 minutes of driving the problem disappears. I took the car into my local MB main dealer who reset all the software and checked the gearbox oil levels (which were normal), which helped to lessen the 'clunk' but its still there. They told me the next option would be too change the filters etc in the box, but i was concerned as they didn't appear to have any clue what could be causing the problem in the first place. Would appreciate any thoughts/shared experience of what this might be.
many thanks
