CLK55 supercharged

Hey guys,

I know a few of you have Kleemann S/C'd CLK55 here. How do you rate them against say, S/C'd SLK55?

I have a S/C'd ML55 (pics here: https://mbworld.org/forums/ml55-amg-...abus-mods.html) which is fun to drive but I fancy a change and thought of either getting a facelift W209 55 or R171 SLK55 and porting all the bits: Kleemann S/C, long headers, cams, 12 piston brakes (will they even fit the SLK?).

I do like the CLK as having rear sits and bigger boot it's a bit more usable in eveyday life, however S/C'ing an SLK seems like an ultimate fun!

What do you guys recon? Which of the two would I be better off modding the heck out of? They cost about the same in the UK too.

Thanks.

I have an 04 clk55 with klee bits and enjoy the car.

If you don't need the space.... then I'd go for a very very recent model slk55 with low miles.
7 spd trans, paddle shift wheel, dual exhaust, big brakes...... then add klee power on top and bam it's a beast. Plus the slk is lighter and thus .3-.5 faster in 1/4 mile in stock form.... I don't know how that translates to 1/4 miles time AFTER mods.... but less wgt is a big factor for stress on half-axles, trans etc.

I agree 100% with everything Jeff said but I would prefer the the CLK for the extra interior room, the SLK is just too small a car for my tastes.

I love your ML. I believe you are in Europe? I would forgo the SLK55 and CLK55 and look for a non BS CLK63 coupe. Wish we got them here states side.

Your ML is awesome!

I would do the SLK. Sounds like fun How much do they weigh anyway? I thought the hardtop convertible kept them from being light

The slk is lighter and runs mid to high 12s from the factory. They also come with a 7 speed tranny. Mbh now makes long tube headers for them. Put them on and you might be satisfied with just a set of headers and a tune. However it seems that the slks are having traction problems when modding for big hp. I like them both but some might say the slk is a bit feminine

slk has a wee bit of the femme thing going.... BUT with loud exhaust and a blower...... I could get over it.

Mid 12's stock! BAD AZZZZ......
