Will bad canister purge valve stall out car?

Will bad canister purge valve stall out car?
My canister purge valve has been ticking for a few weeks now. Last night the car just randomly died on me. I had to crank it and pump the gas to be able to get it too start. Could this be the canister purge valve that caused it to stall??
