PowerChip, Renntech or ASE ECU upgrade owners for CLK55 please respond.

I am going to get a chip upgrade for my 2001 CLK55. I have spoken to both ASE, Renntech and Powerchip. I honestly felt a little more excited about dealing with Powerchip. They seem to want to work with you a little more. That does not in any way mean they are better.

I would like to know everyone's success or failure stories with these companies.

I know it may be difficult to be non-biased here, but please try.

Every car is different, so I would really like to hear from members with a CLK55 or E55.

Thanks.

CLK 69 has this Powerchip on his CLK55. From his experience it looks like it's a pretty good product. Only thing is you have to use a 94 octane gas.

Talking Power Chip 94

I have heard nothing but good things about this chip and the company behind it. My brother has a friend with a M5 who perofmr the chip upgrade and so far so good. I also wanted to invest in the 94 - I will have to wait (thanks to the Market) - Obtaining 94 Octane is no problem SUNOCO has the ultra 94 everywhere. Good luck and keep us posted...

Thumbs up Powerchip are the Real Deal.

Powerchip have the most advanced operating systems bar none.

They have some wiz bang 3D mapping that is generations ahead of the other guys. They are great to deal with as well.

Hey Jame55, we have talked on other Boards. I wonder how long it will be until you recognise me. No hints.

Thanks for the responses. I know Evosport is using them on their 6.2L project.

I just wonder what tranny is going to hold up for them???

I have a Powerchip in my car and love it. I took a chance with the 93 Octane version even though high octane fuel is hard to get in CA. I don't have problems running 91 most days but when it's really hot, the engine runs like crap at high RPM.

Measuring with my GTech before and after, I went from 5.2 down to 4.9. The power increase in the midrange was noticable instantly. During 2-1 downshifts, the car will now break traction.

The thing I liked most about Powerchips was the impression they gave me that they were building this chip for me and my car and not just giving me some off the shelf programming. They asked the most questions about how I drive, what other modifications I performed, etc.

Anything for a C280 ? I'd be happy with 8-10 HP. I can get 94 octane here also, so just being able to take advantage of higher octane should be worth something.

How much for the power chip, I think there is a dealer nearby (I'm in VA near Wash. DC).

Well that wasn't hard to work out. Obviously you looked at my ride.

I'm being lured to the Darkside. I'm not happy the banglization.

I have always loved the look of the CLK, and the new E55 are georgeous and have the punch as well.

I could be a fallen Jedi, influenced by the Darkside.

And what's wrong with that? As you can see the darkside holds the true power of the Jedi!
