Now Eurocharged:) aka Tuned

I was under the impression my car had a Kleemann tune. After putting on my renntech airbox, I almost felt like the car was confused with the extra air coming in. When I went back to the strip, I ran almost the same time.

After then renntech box, I raced my friend with his stock C55, and he would pull on me believe it or not.

So I figured I should get a retune. I contacted Cory, who is great btw. Asked him about a retune for the airbox. I gave him my VIN, and to my amazement I had no tune. At least from Kleemann. Happy because I had left room on the table.

I thought I had a tune because I had no CEL for deleted primaries. Wasn't really keen on taking my PCM out. I have experience with Eurocharged, who is another great company, contacted Jake about getting a tune, best thing is he is local for me. So no removing the PCM.

My friend with the C55 and I decided to get tuned together. So last night we headed out to Jake's to get tuned. Jake confirmed my car had no tune. Jake is awesome by the way, answered my flood of questions and even gave me a ride in his white beast.

Jake tuned my car with a mapping for my airbox and headers, and my friend with the C55 recieved a tune as well.

The results?

I now walk my friends C55 tuned with AEM dryflows from a stop and a roll. You can definitely feel the power difference, quicker shifts, and more responsive throttle. Definitely worth it and cannot recommend Jake enough.

Best part, is the tune did not cause my CEL for no primaries to come back. As the tune does not write to that part. Jake also mentioned that for the tune to fully adapt it will take 40 or 50 miles. I might be crazy, but I was driving it hard as told to on the way home, and it feels like it was getting stronger.

Stay tuned for Drag results and Dyno time. I hope this will dip me into the 12's N/A on all seasons full weight.

Do you think the tune would make much of a difference w/o the headers?

Sweet, should be all you need for that 12 second slip Weird about the CEL thing though...I seem to recall reading somewhere that Kleemann did have an option to just turn off the CEL sans tune, but you would figure they had a record of that. Any chance your car has O2 extenders?

I sure hope so Dre.

Kleemann only keeps record of their performance tunes, all my car had was a code written to the PCM to turn of the CEL for my no primaries. Pretty sure it does not have 02 extenders.

Have you hit the track again?

Probably, my friend said he noticed a difference in his C55. It is stock with AEM filters.

Haven't had the chance yet, but I'm hoping to be ready for the MIR rental Blackbenzz is doing in November. Probably picking up some Hoosier DR's and light 16" wheels in the next week or so. I want to try to squeeze in a Test-n-Tune before MIR to get used to the DR's.

Still lots to do: Replace crank pulley (need to buy the MC crank tool), install PTE cams (need to buy more MB tools), tranny filter and flush, new engine and tranny mounts...Still thinking about a lightweight battery,UDP's, modifying a needswings cai to go with the cams and picking up a Eurotuner for a race gas tune, etc. Whatever I don't get done before the rental will just have to be winter projects

Good thing I still have lots of vacation time to use before MIR!

Did Eurocharged dyno your car by chance or just put the tune in? I just installed my Kleemann headers today and I'm going to send them my ECM to be tuned. With the supercharger and no tune with the stock primaries still in place, my best is a 12.7 @ 108MPH. Dre's dyno numbers were about the same as mine (except I had more torque) with his headers and tune. Amazing how restrictive the exhaust is.

Are you doing that install yourself? If you are, do you think you could take pictures of the process or a how-to, maybe? I'll be interested to see your results because a bunch of threads I read said the cams really didn't get much more power on these engines, just changed where the powerband was.

Yup, doing it myself...rather, doing it with my Father (Diesel Mechanic for 30+ years...stares at my C55 from his porch every time I visit ) with the Kleemann cam install manual. The thing that has me frustrated the most is a lack of a DIY for cam installs in an M113, so I was thinking of putting together a DIY when I do it. Will keep everyone updated elsewhere

So when will you be hitting a track again Nachtsturm? I'm assuming the tracks shut down earlier up your way than Maryland! Any predictions based upon the new feel of the car?

That's cool. Any way you could e-mail me that install manual? I'd like to check it out. I'm a GM tech, but my forte is mostly Corvettes and Camaros plus the luxury stuff like Cadillacs, Hummers, and whatever Germans come in. I don't do much heavy engine work, but I can do it (I've even done a rear main seal on an SL500). I have done some timing chains on Cadillacs, but it's easy to make sure the timing is right when the front cover is off and everythings being replaced! I just don't mess with overhead cam stuff much.

That really doesn't look too bad to do as long as there's no problems (like the chain jumping time). I'd love to see your dyno results after you get them on.

Still disappointed I missed that set of SLR cams that went up for sale on here. But I have read the cams are not a game changer like a cam swap on a LSx. Every hp counts though. Looking forward to your runs.

I will be going October 21st. Hoping for some cool 50 degree air, and maybe for once, no 20mph headwind.

Based on how hard I'm pulling on my friends C55 with tune, I am hoping for 12.8's@110 if the weather cooperates. I will be happy with a 12.999@xxx though, haha.

To 91RS. Unfortunately, my CLK55 hasn't seen the dyno yet. Stay tuned.
