Stuck vent switch hot/cold air ? replace part?

Stuck vent switch hot/cold air ? replace part?
So on my 2004 CLK55
the vent switch on the dash to choose between cold and hot gets stuck when on cold. I had to remove the face plate and a little piece of plastic broke off, so to switch it back to hot I need to use a flathead to disengage this little ball bearing.
Does anyone know if I wanted to replace that whole unit inside if I would have to remove the dash or at the least remove the whole center Navigation/climate control?
Anyone done this before? Just annoying to pry that cap off and dont want to gash the dash or ruin the faceplate. Im willing to spend the $ now to fix it

I purchased a used replacement control toggle switch unit for cold/hot. Does anyone know how this is removed/replaced? It is behind the dash.....
