2002 CLK 55AMG
trunk won't open
hello people!
hope everyone is doing great!
my trunk won't open. the key doesnt work, the car has been taken to dealer for a assessment, $840 to replace the trunk lock assembly. However the service advisor advised me to NOT allow the dealer to remove the lock as recommended. The assement read as follows; trunk will not open via key, remote button, or relase button in center console. connect SDS. perfom short test, found no relevant codes. check for actuation for trunk lid release, found none. check and monitor actual values for trunk lid release button in lower control panel control module. found actuation ok. recommend drilling out trunk lock and replacing trunk lock assembly.
has anyone had this problem before. My car is 2002 CLK 55AMG.
My husband coworker suggested going thru truck to remove lock, since that seems to be the part that has the high price tag.
thanks

...a common issue. Yes, go through the back seat (I always leave one seat unlocked...red tab sticks up)...if that's not an option, reach through the first aid box and pull on the seat release..and then press the blinking green escape button.
If you do a forum search you will find how to turn the lock correctly (usually frozen due to lack of use).
