A/C control problem W208

Well, I was hoping my first post/thread would be a better one..but here it goes. As the title says none of the buttons on the a/c control panel work besides the front and rear defrost button; which only blow heat. I cant adjust the level it's blowing out or do anything else. Anyone else have this problem or something similar?

It is hard to catch all the posts but this might help:
The defroster is by nature driven by heat as in Europe it is required for de-icing as well. I never needed the heat in Florida but welcome a fresh clean winshield when it is raining.
The blower is functioning it seems so all that is left is the filter. These cars come with a cabin filter for human comfort and coil protection. Once the filter gets aged or clogged with leaves and ciggarette fumes, pollen etc..., The blower stars acting up.
Start with replacing the filter, I picked one up at the local auto supply and the directions were included, takes about 5 minutes, half beer to complete. LOL
Once this is acomplished the blower might start to act normal.

Cheers, Gator

YamiR46 chances are you are low on freon which in effect will not allow the system to run the compressor, but the fans should work. The fan speed may be connected or a separate problem. If you live in a warm climate, there should be lots of AC service places, try to get them to hook up their machine to see if there is indeed freon in the system and you might get lucky and only need a top up. A good procedure would be to evacuate the whole system, hold a 30 in vaccuum for 10-20 minutes to ensure no holes in the ac system then recharge the proper amount of freon according to AC sticker on the car. Then you will have to get the AC system cleared of any faults by someone with a Benz coder to restart the system. Good luck. It is unwise just to add freon to the car without knowing how much is in the system and could cause damage, besides the system would still need to be reset. Do it right the first time.

My 208 A/C acted up when it was low on refrigerant by illuminating the EC function light. I could not take the A/C out of economy mode. It just blew hot air. As soon as the system leak was found and it was recharged, the light went out and it worked normally. Just be sure the technician puts the system under proper vacuum to assure no moisture exists before recharging.
