CLK55 and CLS55
Original AMG shocks or Bilsteins
Need to replace my front and rear shocks on my 2001 CLK55 and was wondering whether to buy the original AMG shocks or Bilstein B6/B8 shocks.
I know the Originals are made by Bilstein, but are the B6/B8 shocks matching or should I stick with the original AMG ones. I dont want to make it worse in anyway if the Bilstein B6/B8 cant match them.
Any advice or personal experience on this

Thinking about this exact same issue myself. Trying look ahead in my case as the shocks on my 02 are still good but the day will come when they need to be put out to pasture.

This is a good question as many are confused about the markings on O.E.M. shocks. My W/208 AMG and W/124 has a number plat as well.
City Rat has a good point about life cycle. I will be abusing mine in autocross events and will be looking for suitable replacements too.
2precice is outa my budget but he has class (turbos). fun.
All the Best, Gator
